Ganesh Himal Trekking

The trekking leads to the Gansh Himal Region. Western of the Langtang National Parks raises a mountain chain, called Ganesh Himal, into the sky. Trekking in this outland starts with a shallow trail in Central- Himalaya. It leads through culturally rich villages and through forest with diverse flora and fauna. In the background the mountain chain, with Mt. Ganesh, Mt. Manasalu and Mt. Langtang, is to be seen.

The hike starts in Betrawati Bazaar and leads on to Gorkha Bazaar, the capital in the days of King Prithvi Narayan Saha. You are going to get an insight look on the daily life of Nepali village community. You are going to experience the cultural variety, as well as old traditions and cultural occasions. During this whole trek you will stay overnight in your tent. Following you will find a detailed description of the route, as well as the daily length of the hike.

1. Day - Departure Europe

2. Day - Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

3. Day - Sightseeing Kathmandu

4. Day - Kathmandu to Betrawati (620 MASL)

Fife hour drive to Betrawati (620 MASL). The drive leads us to the north from Kathmandu to Trishuli Bazaar, an important trading point of the locals. People from many different ethnic groups meet there to sell their goods. We are going to camp in Betrawati near by a small river.

5. Day - Betrawati to Kispang (1800 MASL)

The hike from Betrawati to Kispang (1800 MASL) takes about six hours and leads trough terraced fields and tropical forest.

6. Day - Kispang to Thulo Chaur (2320 MASL)

Today we are going to hike in about five hours from Kispang to Thulo Chaur (2320 MASL). We are going to walk through several villages, in which the villagers belong to the ethnical group Tamang. On our way we are going to visit schools, see a monastery, a stupa and a waterfall.

7. Day - Thulo Chaur to Gonga (2850 MASL)

The hike from Thulo Chaur to Gonga (2850 MASL) takes about four hours and therefore it is one of the shortest stages. It takes us through thick forest, in which we eventually see some wild animals.

8. Day - Gonga to Rupchet (3710 MASL)

This stages takes us in about four hours from Gonga to Rupchet (3710 MASL). It leads through thick rhododendron and pine forest. With a little luck we will see some monkeys today. If the weather is good we will have a view on the Langtang mountain chain and the Tibetan high plateau.

9. Day - Rupchet to Singla Top (4000 MASL)

Continuing from Rupecht to the Singla Pass (4000 MASL) or eventually to the Singla Peak (4100 MASL) and we are going down to Cherma (2760 MASL). This is the longest stage of the trek with seven to eight hours. We are going to start early in the morning so we are able to see the sunrise with an incredible view on the mountains. Further we will go through thick forest.

10. Day - Cherma to Meyghang (2130 MASL)

Today we are going to hike comfortably in about six hours from Cherma to Meyghang (2130 MASL). It goes through forest and other Tamang villages. Also you are going to have a wonderful view on the mountains.

11. Day - Meyghang to Tharpu or Sally (1450 MASL)

Today’s stage takes about five hours from Meyghang to Tharpu or Sally (1450 MASL). We are going to hike across terraced fields and villages with different ethnical influences. As well we are going to have a nice view on the mountains. Tharpu is an important marketplace for the local population.

12. Day - Tharpu or Sally to Khahare (615 MASL)

The hike today from Tharpu or Sally to Khahare (615 MASL) takes about five hours. It leads as well as yesterday through terraced fields and villages.

13. Day - Khahare to Pokhara Danda (1470 MASL.)

After four hours of Walking you would arrived to Fhulkharka and after lunch you yould continue to Pokhara Danda. From the camping site you have chance to see Ganesh Himal Mountains

14. Day - Pokhara Danda - Salyankot (850 MASL)

Along the Ganga-Jamuna Hill gose trekk to Salyankot. there is a Temple, which is very significant for Hindus

15. Day - Salyankot - Arughat (530 MASL)

via Salyantar Trekk to Arughat Bazar. This is the most important trade center of the region. It is divided, geographically and politically, by the river Buri Gandaki.

16. Day - Drive to Kathmandu by Jeep takes around 6 Hours

The daily routines described must be considered somewhat flexible, as they are adapted to local conditions (weather, new paths, etc.) as well as to your constitution. Your guide will plan and discuss the next day with you in the evening.

Requirements

You will find the level of difficulty and the type of accommodation of each journey in the program.

Equipment

You are going to get an equipment list as recommendation together with your travel documents. The equipment for a tent trekking (tent, mattresses etc.) will be organized locally.

Luggage

You are allowed to check in 20 kg as well as you can take 5 kg of hand luggage with you. If you would like to travel with a trolley case, we kindly ask you to take an additional big backpack with you. Luggage which you do not need while trekking can be deposit for free in Kathmandu.

Entry

For the entry to Nepal you need a passport which is valid further than 6 month after your departure date. You will receive your visa upon your arrival at the airport in Kathmandu. You will be told about the visa expenses while booking, since the fee changes from time to time.

Health

Himalaya Trekking suggests seeing your doctor or a tropical doctor as early as possible so you will be informed about current provisions regarding injections. Pharmacy or a doctor will help you regarding your personal trip first aid travel kit.

Group size

Himalaya Trekking guarantees for every tour. We do not have any minimum size for a group, but we do have a maximum of 12 persons per tour.

Tour program

The daily program should be seen as very flexible since we have to consider the local circumstances as well as your physical condition. Your guide will plan with you every evening the next day.

Travel documents

You are going to receive the detailed travel documents with general information as well as your flight tickets 2 to 3 weeks before departure.

Tipping

The tip for the local guides and carrier are not included in the travel costs. It is common to tip them for a good performance.

Accommodation and meals

The overnight stays in Kathmandu and Pokhara will be in a middle class hotel. The restaurants can be chosen individually, as lunch and dinner are not included in the travel costs.

During a lodge trekking the hike will be trough village to village. You will stay overnight in a basic hostel and you are going to have your meals there or in a restaurant on the way. During the camp trekking you are going to stay in one man or two-person tents and all the meals will be provided by private cook.

Insurance

Himalaya Trekking recommends having travel insurance as well as a cancellation protection. We also recommend having a copy of your police with you.

Climate

The weather in Nepal is nice. The summer is together with the monsoon season from June to October, the rest of the year is dry. There is mild climate in the Kathmandu valley, during the summer time around 20-30°C and in the winter time around 0-15°C.

Please consider the climate for your travelling plans, since the county covers a height form 75 MASL to 8848 MASL. Therefor the climate changes and if you are in the wrong place to the wrong time you will probably not see the Himalaya. However there still is a suited journey for every time period!
